Here in the Philippines, we don’t get easily sued for using pictures or images and articles of other people.  If you are unlucky, you will receive some messages, if not politely asking you to take down the photo (that you suppose they own), that are nasty mocking you of how unethical and bad you are for using something you don’t own.

In freelance world, especially if our clients are from United States, Canada, UK or Australia, where they are very strict in copyrights, you really can’t just grab any photo you found in the Google search results, or Facebook, or Pinterest.  You must obtain permissions and even pay the owner.  If not, you, or your client, will pay a hefty price for copyright infringement.

PIXABAY

Anyway, I experienced those, believe me. And I learned. So I discovered Pixabay with the help of one former complainant (luckily he did not sue me or my client).  Here in Pixabay, you can use big size, high-resolution images or small images.  Paying them is optional, and attribution is not required.  So this is the number 1 on my list.

 DOLLAR PHOTO CLUB

If your client is more picky on images but low on budget, you can tell him all about Dollar Photo Club.  All photos cost just a dollar.  I love this because they have more options and better photos.  But Pixabay is my favorite.

So there! 2 of my favorite place to grab photos from.  You can use these free and low-cost images for articles and blogs, websites, your small business for marketing and advertisements, or even for your book or ebook.  If you have more ideas, please feel free to share in your comments below.
